My name is Skyler Johnstone, I am 21 years old and I am a full-time college student. I love being my own boss and I try to convert people to entrepreneurialism at least 5-10 times a day. My life quotes would have to be ” If you can not find a job then create one!” and One of my all time favorites “What’s the worst thing they could say? The worst thing anyone can say to you is no” That being said, I always ask for a discount or bargain wherever I go and even if I do not succeed 9 times out of 10 that one person who says yes is saving me money and oh boy do I love to save money! I can almost even go as far as calling myself a money-saving-specialist. If there is one thing more that I like or enjoy than creating a new different business it is to save money on something I would otherwise pay full price for.

My goals in life are obviously to be successful and well known and respected but more importantly to help others. I enjoy volunteering for various organizations and enjoy talking to people and meeting new people and seeing new faces daily. I have always thought it would be fun to be a comedian but well hell I’m just not funny enough. However funny I may think I am, the comedy business is less forgiving than rug burn. If I can help just one person in the world find happiness through any advice I can give them then I have done my job. As you can tell from my own blog, I am very outgoing and sociable. I enjoy going to concerts, sporting events and even the occasional play or opera. I listen to every type of music including classical, hip-hop and techno. For fun on most occasions I ask people what they do for work, not to steal their ideas but it is surprising just how many millions of job titles there are out there.

Like I stated before, if you can not find a job then create one. Create your own title, live up to it and enjoy it. Enjoy what you do, live life, smile often and DON’T EVER EVER EVER FORGET TO LAUGH AT LEAST ONCE A DAY!

Thanks for viewing my page!   As always- Comment, leave your feedback and Share with your friends!

Hey, I came across your page on craigslist and am really inspired by your blog. I completely agree with everything you have to say and feel like I am in a lot of ways trying to do the same thing as you. Don’t worry, I am trying to create a blog centered around hair/beauty as I am a hairstylist working for myself but for as long as I can remember I have my focus in multiple places at once. Sometimes I wonder if it is bad that I spread myself out because my focus is never completely in one place but on the other hand I have so many passions and things that interest me/inspire me that I just can’t help myself. I’ve had my Real Estate License and now my Cosmetology License, I’m pretty sure some of my family is wondering If I am ever going to commit to one thing. Currently, all I can think about is getting this blog going but it will be a bit harder for me because anything deeper than surface web knowledge is way over my head. Research has led me to think that maybe I should enroll in a fast-track web/HTML course and I want to go the webhost route vs. going the tumblr route. Luckily, I am going into this purely out of passion, as more of a hobby BUT I will be stoked if I end up with thousands of readers and companies emailing me in hopes of advertising on my page. I’m not quite sure if I am messaging you in hopes of getting any advice before I plunge into this or if I just wanted to let you know that I like what you have going on. I tried to find your email on your page and had no luck sooo I guess all your readers get in on this message ha ha. Also, I was wondering if blogging is something you do full-time? Do you have help on the website end of things or are you just backpage friendly? Anyways, glad I ran across your page and thanks for the information shared!

  2. Thank you so much for the support and detailed response. If I can give any advice that would be substantial enough to matter it would be to do what you love and I know that is very cliche but if you don’t you only taking away joy from your own life. To answer your question about my blogging habits I have to admit I have spent more time blogging than most things but I have just become addicted to sharing a common free of charge wealth of knowledge I have been able to acquire. Even though I am 21 I am trying to let the even younger readers that anything is possible in the world. All you have to do is apply yourself. I think that if you want to write a blog, be prepared for how much fun you are going to have telling all of your friends about it and getting their responses too. I have been emailed a few times now from various readers and it has an awesome experience. The best things in life are free.

  3. Hi Skyler, you sound like you’re enjoying life! It’s good that you understand the importance of entrepreneurship and want to inspire and motivate others, especially those younger than you. There may be a shortage of ready made “jobs” in the world but never a shortage of creativity. I’m following you to see your progress and benefit from your encouragement as well. Stay on track and you Will reach your goals!

    • Linda! What a great encouraging response. Yes I love teaching young people but even more so helping people be happier in their lives. If anyone out there is like me, they know they don’t like working for other people and being micromanaged so that is why I started this blog, not just to teach but to inspire. You are so right about creativity however, all it takes is one good idea to be set for life so that is my goal and mission. What’s yours?

Hi..I also came across your site from Craigslist..I really enjoyed reading your blog posts. You have a great blog here!! The only suggestion that I would have to make is that you might want to look into having a self-hosted WordPress blog. When I first started blogging in 2007 I ended up loosing all of my content and was sad to find out that this could happen to anyone when using services like WordPress.com or Blogger. If you have any questions or would like help, please feel free to contact me anytime..

    • I most definitely be contacting you very shortly. I couldn’t agree more, for me being more business savy the tech world can and is very confusing to me. I am glad you found me because I would love to pick your brain a little bit about all that techy stuff ha ha. Again thanks for the great response and I am glad you liked it!

  6. I found your blog website on google and test a number of of your early posts. Proceed to keep up the very good operate. I just extra up your RSS feed to my MSN Information Reader. In search of forward to reading more from you later on!…

  7. Terrific article. Quite useful info.

  8. Having a great desire to help others and coming across your blog on Craigslist like others who have commented here, allow me to provide you with some feedback; your blog ROCKS! I really like the aesthetics of it as well as the passion you write with…and you’re only 21 years old? Here’s some free advice for you as well; finish college, keep blogging, and we’ll be reading about you soon under the heading “successful blogger!” Hope to join you there as well 🙂

Hello, I just found your blog while cruising craigslist. You have that special something that makes life worth living and gives hope for the future. I also created a job for myself when I could not find one. I have a house hold services business. I clean, garden, watch pets, children, run errands, private catering, and care-take/manage properties and houses for folks in the Portland Oregon area. I started my business with $25.00 and a craigslist ad.

Keep it up you are going to have a great life!
